At Bloom, we believe that real voices will bring the change we need. Real stories, shared honestly, lift us up, giving us the strength to overcome the hurdles in our way, and help us to know that we are not alone.

Following on from our publication of The Great Return in 2021, this year at Bloom UK we’re shining a light on the experience of dads and non-primary caregivers in our industry.

Combining our commitment to the power of real voices with our belief that the more inclusive and diverse our industry is, the stronger it is, has led to the Parents Group in 2022 continuing to ensure work works for our working parents, irrespective of gender.

The Booth of Truth is anonymous.  It is a space in which folks can share their innermost thoughts - even if they would never say them out loud.  We then use these "confessions" to stimulate further conversation across our socials in order to unearth real and authentic insight into what modern day parenthood is all about and how we, as an industry, can ensure we help our whole workforce to thrive.

The experiences and treatment of dads and non-primary caregivers is a key factor when considering gender equality. For example, research shows that paternity leave is beneficial not just for the dad/non-primary caregiver, but also the mother/primary parent and the baby. Considering just the finances, a mother’s salary rises for every month of paternity leave her partner takes. Equally, as an industry we are growing more accustomed to requests such as flexible working and/or reduced hours from mothers, but what about our dads/non-primary caregivers? Are these managed differently? Are the expectations the same? And how does this link to how we view and treat working mums as an industry?

We are looking forward to gathering insight into these topics this year and kickstarting a conversation to drive change. Join us this year for industry-first research and a special event at BloomFEST amongst other things.

And it all starts with The Booth of Truth - passing our virtual microphone over to the dads and non-primary caregivers in our industry. The Booth of Truth is anonymous, a space to share your innermost thoughts. And it’s now open to all industry dads and non-primary caregivers.

Help us drive change with the real voices of working parents in the industry.

The Booth of Truth is now closed.
