BloomFest 2025: 20 Ways to Bloom Beyond The Bubble

We’ve rounded up the best pieces advice from this year’s BloomFest to help you break out of your comfort zones.

Last week, we hosted our latest BloomFest, and what a night it was! The theme, "Beyond The Bubble," was about pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones and trying something totally new. We were lucky to be joined by some incredible guest speakers: Fiona McKay, CEO of the Menopause Maze, and Mandy Hickson, former RAF fighter pilot and author of of An Officer, Not a Gentleman. Our very own Bloom members also hosted some fantastic panels, opening-up on their personal challenges and delivering candid advice on how to push ourselves, even when it’s hard. There was also a series of hands-on workshops run by the talented Bloom community that helped put our new skills into practice on the night.

We’ve rounded up the helpful advice that was shared throughout the evening. Print them out, stick them on the fridge and make them a daily mantra. Let’s bloom beyond our bubbles!

  1.  You don’t need to be a superhero from the get-go.

  2. There’s less competition in zones where no one is comfortable.

  3. Spend your time building relationship equity, and spend those deposits when you need to.

  4. Make the ask.

  5. Don’t let others be reckless with your career.

  6. Hold a ladder for yourself, and others.

  7. Don’t let your fear hold you back.

  8. Things don’t always play out the way you imagine in your own head.

  9. Back yourself. You’ve got this.

  10. Just do it.

  11. Mindset gets you started, learning to manage your state of mind gets you through.

  12. Make friends, not a network.

  13. Control the controllables, and if you can’t, let it go.

  14. Act on 80. Do the best you can with the information you have.

  15. Change a ‘no’ into a ‘not yet’.

  16. It’s not about who you know, but who knows you.

  17. Take your connections forward.

  18. Speak to strangers, be curious.

  19. Learn to speak Gen Alpha.

  20. Nurture your connections like plants. Find ones that complement you, keep an eye on them, water and feed them regularly.
